An African teen thug has walked out of youth detention in Victoria after spending less than 18 months behind bars for helping carry out a high-profile alleged murder.
The violent offender, who cannot be named due to his age, was originally charged with murder himself, but pleaded guilty to assisting offender murder, two counts of aggravated burglary, common assault and theft of motor vehicle, the Herald Sun reported.
He was on bail at the time of the alleged murder, but was earlier this month released under a 16-month community corrections order. Details of the alleged murder case cannot be revealed for legal reasons.
Video posted on social media shows him walking out of the youth detention facility to the tune of a rap song titled Talk of the Town, with lyrics including “Man’s way too lit to be walkin’ around, talk of the country, not talk of the town. Get the drop on an opp, stalkin’ ‘em down”.
He is seen carrying bags full of clothes and smiling as he ducks under a garage door, before the person filming is told to stop.
One of his victims said the thug was “flaunting” his freedom in the video, saying it “just makes me sick”.
“The punishment is not fitting the crime,” she said.
“He’s boasting with that song. The system is beyond a joke.”
Under his release order the teen offender is required to take part in a community service program and attend a youth justice unit.
The teenager’s release comes amid a spate of African gang-related stabbings and shootings in Melbourne, including the alleged murders of Timothy Leek and Pal Bidong, who both lost their lives within days of “diss” tracks being released by an affiliated rap group, one including Bidong, who was known as Peezy.
