A transgender paedophile has been charged with allegedly directing a child sex abuse ring from inside his New South Wales prison.
The 31-year-old biological male convicted sex offender, who has changed his name from Dean Angus Bell to Jessica Isabelle Rose while behind bars, allegedly directed a group of paedophile inmates calling themselves “The Pack” at Junee Correctional Facility.
The group allegedly shared letters amongst themselves detailing the sexual abuse of children and plans to offend against children in the future.
Rose, who claims to have “transitioned genders” after being jailed for using a carriage service to access child abuse material, and for breaching an extended supervision order, was arrested and charged on Tuesday.
NSW Police described him as a “woman” and used his preferred personal pronouns in a statement after charging him with eight counts of produce child abuse material, eight counts of disseminate child abuse material and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group.
“Detectives will allege in court the woman directed the group while in the correctional facility and wrote letters detailing the child abuse which she sent to other inmates,” police said in a statement.
Junee Correctional Facility is an all-male prison.
Investigations are continuing into the alleged paedophile ring by police under Strike Force Edits.
The case comes after another transgender paedophile was housed in a female prison in the United States after being convicted of raping his own son and daughter.
James “Michelle” Blessent was placed in Logan Correctional Facility, a women’s prison in Lincoln, Illinois, to serve his 87-year sentence.
Local police in that case also referred to Blessent as a woman and used his preferred but factually inaccurate personal pronouns.
