Hunt for two African men after Gold Coast double stabbing

A manhunt is underway on the Gold Coast after two men were stabbed during a clash between African males.

Emergency services were called to Remembrance Drive, Surfers Paradise, on Saturday morning and found two 20-year-old men suffering stab wounds, one with life-threatening injuries to his stomach and back, Queensland Police said.

Both were rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where one remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police said both stabbing victims were residents of Toowoomba, and witnesses told The Courier Mail the incident involved young men of African appearance.

Gold Coast detectives have since released images of two people who may be able to assist with the investigation, and are appealing to anyone who knows them to come forward immediately.

The incident was initially reported as a shooting, but Queensland Police said no guns were involved.

Several people were spoken to at the scene but no charges were laid.

“There were people running – I heard someone say ‘get off the streets’,” a local resident said.

“I heard a banging noise that sounded not quite as loud as a gun, but it could have been a projectile.”
