Steve Bannon speaks out about being persecuted and jailed by ‘illegitimate regime’: ‘They will never break me’

Former Donald Trump advisor Steve Bannon has called on Republicans to step up and join patriotic Americans in a “populist revolt to save our country” in a fiery interview as he prepares to start a prison sentence.

Bannon, ex-White House Chief Strategist and host of The War Room podcast told Tucker Carlson he was prepared to become a political prisoner to serve his country and would do whatever it takes to win, vowing “they will never break me”.

A federal judge on Thursday ordered Bannon to report to prison on July 1 to begin a four-month sentence he was given after being found guilty of contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas from the Jan 6 Committee.

At the beginning of the Tucker Carlson Uncensored interview, Carlson compared Bannon’s case to that of Obama Attorney-General Eric Holder, who was not prosecuted for the same charge, while Bannon said a court employee told him it was the only prison sentence given for a misdemeanour he could remember in 34 years.

“You served our country in the US Navy, you’re now being betrayed and persecuted by your country, no fair person could conclude anything but that,” Carlson said.

“Not our country Tucker,” Bannon responded. “Our country are the guys that listen to you and support you, we’re being suppressed and oppressed by an illegitimate regime that usurp power here and that’s what we have to break.

“I will be just as proud to serve my nation as a political prisoner in a federal prison for a misdemeanour by Nancy Pelosi as I was to serve my nation on that destroyer.”

He then told Tucker he believed there was a coordinated effort to target influential voices during an election year, saying the same thing had been done with a now-dropped border wall case in 2020.

“They want to silence The War Room …  they want to take out another voice, like they want to take you out, they’re liquidating Alex Jone’s complete media operation,” he said.

“These people play hardball, and I hope Republicans understand that the reason we got in this situation was these kind of establishment Republicans were controlled opposition.

“The only thing these people understand is smashmouth. You have to play within the rules, you have to play within the constitution and the rule of law, but we can do a lot within that.”

Bannon then warned that “this is an illegitimate regime of neo-marxists” from the FBI to Wall Street.

“This is a war to the knife, right, we have to win this. If we don’t win this this country is going to devolve into some kind of neo-marxist totalitarian regime of which it’s pretty far down the road right now.

“That’s why I don’t fear going to prison.”

He went on to call on his supporters and colleagues at The War Room to be the “next man up” like in a phalanx or a military vanguard.

“This is a populous revolt. You have to step up and do it yourself, you have to dive in more, you have to do more media sharing – become a force multiplier.”
