A Queensland Police officer has been charged with possessing child exploitation material.
The male constable, 20, has been charged with one count of use carriage service to access child abuse material and use carriage service to transmit, make available or promote child abuse material, police said on Saturday.
The officer is from the Southern Region, which includes the Darling Downs, Ipswich, and the state’s south-west, and has been suspended.
He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 21.
“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” police said in a statement.
“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
