A young man is fighting for life after being stabbed with a machete during an African gang brawl in Melbourne.
Shocking CCTV footage obtained by Nine News shows two groups of thugs of African appearance clashing in Footscray just before 9.30pm on Friday night.
At one point a car reverses at speed into one of the groups before the 24-year-old is grabbed by another man who plunges a long blade into him several times.
The victim ran off, and was later found by paramedics bleeding heavily on a park bench on Albert Street, which was still soaked with blood on Saturday morning.
He was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery.
Victoria Police said it was unclear whether the people involved were known to each other. No arrests have been made.
Fed-up locals said they were sick of violent crime in the area, which they said had become “normal”.
“It’s increasingly getting worse. The problem is, it’s almost on a daily basis, you can see it getting worse,” one Footscray resident said.
“This is like a different country, it’s a third world country here.”
The stabbing comes after African man Nathan Mwanza, 23, was allegedly stabbed to death in Wyndham Vale in the city’s southwest earlier this week.
A Burmese man, 22, and a 17-year-old male have been charged with murder over the alleged attack at a bus stop.
The 22-year-old’s lawyer told a court on Saturday that his client needed a Burmese translator and was suffering from unmedicated schizophrenia and a learning disability.
Mr Mwanza’s death was the latest in a series of African gang-related alleged murders and shootings to rock Melbourne, despite the left-wing Labor government and corporate media claiming that African gangs don’t exist.
Last month two African men were shot in Collingwood after a gang brawl involving 50 thugs, and in December two African men were charged over the alleged murder of a Burmese teenager in a gang attack.
In November gangs vowed to take revenge after a Sudanese rapper was shot dead, and in July four African gang members were sentenced over the brutal murder of White Australian boy Declan Cutler who died of 86 stab wounds.
