101-year-old man on mobility scooter attacked and robbed by three female teens in Darwin

A 101-year-old man on a mobility scooter suffered cuts to his arms during a shocking alleged violent robbery in Darwin last night.

Northern Territory Police allege the man was assaulted by three females aged 14, 15, and 19 on Mitchell Street in the CBD at about 9.30pm on Wednesday.

The teenagers allegedly fled with his wallet and keys, but were tracked down and arrested nearby. Police did not provide a description of the alleged offenders.

The man suffered lacerations to his arms and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The three teens are expected to be charged later today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Trent Abbott said: “This was a disgraceful attack on a vulnerable member of our society and the actions of these offenders was abhorrent.

“Thankfully the victim is expected to make a full recovery.

“I would also like to commend our vigilant CCTV operators and attending officers for their swift action to respond and apprehend the offenders nearby.”
