Two men have been left with stab wounds after an alleged African gang knife fight erupted in Adelaide overnight.
Seven males aged 17 to 25 were arrested and charged after the bloody alleged clash in Para Hills at 3.30am on Thursday.
South Australia Police allege the fight was linked to African street gang Killa Block Squad, also known as KBS, 7 News reported, and are now looking at using anti-bikie laws to stop ongoing violence between rival groups.
Mayakel Gabriel, 21, of Elizabeth Vale, Koch Wawu, 19 of Campbelltown and Deng Peter Bayoch, 19 of Klemzig, all faced Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with aggravated affray, The Advertiser reported.
Bayoch was also charged with breaching bail by allegedly carrying an offensive weapon.
Another man, Mohamed Monyah, 19 of Paralowie, was charged with affray over the fight, and a 17-year-old boy appeared separately in the Adelaide Youth Court.
A man, 19, from Valley View and a man, 25, from Ascot Park were also arrested and charged with affray after being rushed to hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds.
The court heard blood-stained knives were found discarded near the scene of the fight, along with a blood-covered shoe.
Police alleged in court Bayoch was found wearing a matching shoe, with blood-soaked clothes in a washing home at a nearby home.
Gabriel and Wawa told the court they were not involved in the fight and applied for home detention bail, but Magistrate Jayanthi Pandya refused bail, citing community protection.
The South Australia state government is now looking at anti-bikie-style laws to stop gang crime,
Shocking police data shows that just 20 youths committed 600 crimes last year – 11% of all youth court offences in the state.
Operation Meld was formed by South Australia Police in 2021 to investigate an ongoing conflict between KBS and rival gang 051.
Both gangs are mainly comprised of South Sudanese youths, but also have members from Somalia, Liberia, and other African countries.
