Six members of an Adelaide African gang have faced court over an alleged kill plot that left an innocent teenager with a bullet wound to the leg.
Three adults, aged 19, 19 and 21, and three 17-year-olds were arrested on Thursday and faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court and the Adelaide Youth Court today charged with attempted murder over the alleged shooting in Andrews Farm on December 16 last year.
One of the 17-year-olds was also charged with firearms and ammunition offences, and the 21-year-old was hit with drug charges over a firearm and MDMA tablets allegedly found during police searches.
Acting Assistant Commissioner John De Candia said on Thursday all six were members of the violent street gang 051, and allegedly intended to kill a member of rival African gang KBS, but went to the wrong address and shot a man with no links to the gang conflict.
The 18-year-old victim, who was shot through a closed bedroom roller shutter window, has since recovered from the gunshot injury.
The court heard the gang members allegedly prepared a floorplan of the victim’s home with his bedroom circled in red, 7 News reported.
Prosecutors allege the shooting was planned in an online chat named “Hit Squad” where the gang members discussed jumping the target’s fence and firing shots into the man’s bedroom window.
The gang members allegedly stressed the importance of confirming the man’s death and burning the evidence.
But the shooting went wrong when the alleged gunmen went to the wrong house and crashed a car while driving away from the scene.
The three adults did not apply for bail and will reappear in court in July, while the three minors were also remanded in custody until their next court appearance, set for February.
