An African hit-and-run driver is on the loose after crashing his car in Melbourne and threatening locals when he returned to retrieve his backpack.
Video obtained by 7 News shows the brazen thug smashing into a ute in Dandenong at 9am on a Saturday last month before stopping the stolen BMW down the street and fleeing the scene.
But 30 minutes later he returned to the scene to collect his backpack, and was filmed getting into a getaway car driven by another man as witnesses shouted “hey, what are you doing?”
One local said the man told them: “If you come any closer I’m going to skin your face”.
Another local resident said her family was terrified after witnessing the incident.
“I’m very scared, you know, my son was very scared,” she said.
The incident occurred two weeks ago, but Victoria Police are yet to track down the man.
It comes amid a spate of shocking alleged crimes involving Africans in Melbourne in recent weeks.
On Thursday a 24-year-old was arrested over an alleged attempted carjacking rampage in Frankston, and days before that a couple in Kew awoke to a gang of African teens standing over their bed demanding their car keys.
A week earlier a Congolese immigrant was allegedly stabbed to death at a bus stop in Wyndham Vale, and another man was left fighting for life after a machete attack in Footscray.
