A Queensland Police officer has been charged with a child sex offence.
The 27-year-old male constable from the Northern Region was charged with one count of use carriage service to access child abuse material, police said on Wednesday.
He allegedly accessed the material while off duty.
The constable has been suspended and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on February 18.
“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” police said in a statement.
“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.
In October last year another male constable, 20, from the Southern Region, was charged with the same offence, as well as use carriage service to transmit, make available or promote child abuse material.
