Far-left extremists vandalise Melbourne statue in lead-up to Australia Day

Left-wing extremists have defaced a statue of Queen Victoria in Melbourne in the lead-up to Australia Day.

The Queen Victoria Memorial in Queen Victoria Park was attacked on Saturday morning, leaving it smeared with red paint and with pieces broken off. “Decolonise” and “F U” were also painted on the granite and marble monument, which was unveiled in 1907.

Radical leftists posted about the vandalism on an Instagram account named The Colony Will Fall – the same slogan painted on several defaced monuments last year – and claimed there was an unsuccessful attempt to topple it entirely.

“Unfortunately she is still standing with a chain and winch around her neck,” the group wrote.

“Next time just need a stronger winch.”

The same group on Tuesday posted a “capture the flag challenge” which encourages followers to steal Australian flags.

“Groups with the most flags captured will win a bundle of books by First Nations authors and activists, delivered anonymously,” the caption states.

A Muslim TikToker called Hijabi Barbi, who regularly posts anti-Australian and antiwhite content, visited the scene of the vandalism on Saturday and filmed a disrespectful video about the incident.

“Out of all of the defaced statues I’ve visited, I’d give this a four out of ten because her head’s still attached,” she says.

Last year a number of statues across Australia were vandalised by radical leftists, including a statue of Captain Cook in Melbourne on the eve of Australia Day which is now being protected by a security guard and a Victoria Police surveillance camera.

No arrests have been made over any of the incidents.
