‘Transgender’ axe attacker freed from jail eight years after trying to kill two strangers in a Sydney 7-Eleven

“Transgender” would-be axe murderer Evie Amati has been released from jail after serving an eight-year prison sentence for trying to kill three strangers in Sydney.

Karl Amati, 32, a biological male who claimed to be female, and who was incarcerated in women’s correctional centres by woke NSW authorities, was set free on parole on Monday morning, Daily Mail Australia reported.

Going by the name Evie, Amati was seen on CCTV walking into the 7-Eleven service station in Enmore at 2.20am on January 6, 2017, while carrying an axe. He then attacked two customers waiting at the checkout before using the weapon on a third man outside.

He blamed complications from genital mutilation surgery he underwent in Thailand in a futile bid to change sexes, depression, drug use and a failed Tinder date for the horrific attacks which left one of his victims needing four titanium plates put in his face.

Ben Rimmer, who briefly chatted with Amati before the deranged maniac struck him with the axe, was left with a gaping hole in his face and needed hours of reconstructive surgery, while Sharon Hacker suffered a fractured skull.

In 2019 Amati began de-transitioning back to male while behind bars, but it is unclear whether he continued or whether he still claims to be female.

Amati was originally sentenced to just four-and-a-half years’ jail, which was almost doubled on appeal to eight years with a maximum of 14.

The son of Western Australian trade union bosses, Amati was born in Perth in 1992 and graduated from high school in the top one percent of students in the state.

In 2016 he flew to Thailand with his girlfriend, parents and sister to have a “sex change” operation, but his appeal trial heard the “post-surgical process of ongoing dilations was arduous and extremely painful”.

Before the attempted axe murders, Amati had a date with a woman where he reacted badly to a comment from one of his date’s friends which led to him storming off because he believed she had rejected him for being “transgender”.

That night he texted her: “One day I’m going to kill a lot of people … for hating something so innocent … all I want to do is please … but I’m too ugly … and you will pay”.

She responded “I didn’t say you were ugly not once … this is the anxiety talking …”, but Amati replied: “How do you say you adore me and want to see me again … and then spew this shit about your personal demons like I have nothing to do with them … you have nothing … because you are nothing but hate …”

Half an hour after their conversation ended he armed himself with the axe and an 18cm knife and walked to the 7-Eleven store where he carried out his savage attacks against his innocent and unsuspecting victims.

“The primary motivation for the offending was perceived intolerance/interpersonal rejection, in particular that attributed by the accused to [his date],” the sentencing judge found.

“The offender was affected and disinhibited by the combination of illicit drugs (MDA and Cannabis), alcohol and prescription medication.”
