A Sydney woman woke up in jail on Christmas after being arrested for allegedly making offensive comments online.
NSW Police said the 39-year-old was arrested at a home in Bundeena at about 3pm on Tuesday by officers investigating reports a woman had allegedly made offensive comments on social media videos.
She was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm and use carriage service to menace/harass/offend, and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Christmas Day.
The arrest comes five days after NSW Police arrested a different woman for a social media post in which she allegedly incorrectly identified a police officer.
The 48-year-old from Camden was issued a future court attendance notice on December 19 for the charge of “use carriage service to offend” following an investigation into reports of an offensive social media post.
“Police will allege in court the woman made a social media post incorrectly identifying a serving police officer,” police said in a statement.
The woman will face Picton Local Court on February 6.
