A search is underway for an aboriginal registered sex offender who went on the run in Melbourne while under a supervision order.
Victoria Police on Sunday made an appeal for public assistance to help locate Theo Briggs, 32, who is believed to have tampered with an electronic monitoring device in St Kilda at about 6pm on Saturday.
“Briggs is described as Aboriginal, 179cm tall with a solid build, brown hair, brown eyes and an olive complexion,” police said
“He also has multiple tattoos including “GOO” on his right hand, a religious cross on his left wrist, a rose and “MUM” on his right wrist, “CLARKE” and “Live to fight” on his lower right forearm, and “Fight to live” on his right forearm.
“Briggs is known to frequent the Mooroopna, Shepparton and Beraii areas and has a large number of family members and associates in those locations.”
Investigators urged Briggs to come forward and make contact with police himself as soon as possible, and warned anyone harbouring or assisting him that they could potentially face criminal prosecution.
Police said a warrant for his arrest would be applied for on Monday for contravention on the supervision order.
Anyone who spots him is urged to call Triple-Zero immediately.
