An immigrant protester demanding to be allowed to stay in Australia forever has irritated locals by giving an indigenous land acknowledgement at a rally.
The demonstrator, who appears to be a Sri Lankan so-called refugee, began his speech in Docklands, Melbourne, last Friday by using an anti-Australian extremist slogan falsely asserting that aboriginals have sovereignty over the whole country.
“I would like to start by acknowledging that this country that this country has always been and always will be aboriginal land,” he said.
He ended his speech in a similar way, but with grammatical errors, saying: “It will always be, what it always was, and always will be our aboriginal land, thank you.”

The ahistorical claim angered Australians on social media, with many pointing out it was hypocritical for foreigners to demand permanent residency in a country they think is illegitimate.
“If he really believes it is aboriginal land, why is he insistent on coming here and taking more off them?” asked one X user.
“If this was aboriginal land, they would not be here. They are here because the British built a great country,” another pointed out.
“Wait… why is it ‘time for the Australian Government to act and provide a permanent solution for so many’?” asked a third.
“I’m pretty sure there is no war in India, yes there are land conflicts where Pakistan and China are trying to take their land… but why would you leave because of that? Shouldn’t he stay and fight for his homeland?
“If Australia went to war he clearly is going to do the same thing and we have enough soy boys as it is.”
Another wrote: “Of course, this was the entire point of the ‘acknowledgement of country’ in the first place.
“Leftists champion it not because the land belongs to aboriginals, but because it doesn’t belong to YOU. You have no right to sovereignty, peace or security.”
Locals in Melbourne and Sydney are growing increasingly fed-up with an ongoing protest movement organised and supported by far-left groups which has been been blocking streets outside the Home Affairs office in Docklands and Immigration Minister Tony Burke’s office in Punchbowl.
Most are Sri Lankans and many have been in Australia for more than 10 years but are unable to speak English.
Earlier this month Mr Burke begged protesters to stop their incessant noise, saying it was turning the local community against them, but demonstrators vowed to continue anyway.
The Melbourne protest has resulted in resulting in violent clashes with police and counterprotests by nationalist activists.
